New staff induction

First day

Casual Professional
Complete the Casual Professional Induction form to:
- confirm you’ve started work
- make sure you receive your pay.
You’ll be set up with a user account and password, and a staff email address.

Visiting academics and occupational trainees
Complete the visiting academic and occupational trainee induction form to meet occupational health and safety requirements.

Existing staff changing position or organisational unit
Complete the changing position or organisational unit induction form to make sure your new appointment is processed in the HR system.

Scholarship holders
Students who hold scholarships administered by an academic organisational unit (for example, a school or centre) must complete the Scholarship holder induction form to make sure their scholarship is paid.
Students who hold scholarships administered by the Scholarships Office, Office of Research and Postgraduate Studies don't need to complete this form.
First week
During your first week you should:
- get your staff ID card
- log in to Workday and learn how to update your personal details, view your payslips, manage payroll deductions, and apply for leave
- find out about transport and getting to your campus
- apply for a parking permit, if you need one
- complete the mandatory and required training for your role
- complete your health and safety induction
- familiarise yourself with our Attendance, Hours of Work and Overtime (Professional Staff) Procedures
Orientation events
Sign up to attend the next New Staff Expo to:
- learn about UQ's community, facilities and resources
- be welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor and other members of our Executive.
If you're an academic staff member, you can also sign up for the next Orientation for Academics new to UQ to:
- understand your role as an academic at UQ
- learn about teaching and learning resources, and development opportunities.
These events run twice a year, at the beginning of each semester. Dates are scheduled at the start of each year.

Senior leaders
Complete our New to UQ Senior Leaders Program if you’re starting:
- a senior leadership role at HEW 10 or above
- an equivalent academic leadership position at level E or above.
