The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides counselling services and coaching to help you proactively enhance your wellbeing.

Staff and their immediate family members can access:

  • up to 6 sessions of free, confidential counselling or coaching support
  • online health and wellbeing resources.

The program is provided by Benestar (formerly known as Davidson Trahaire Corpsych) through their individual wellbeing services.

Counselling and coaching services

EAP sessions are typically structured, short-term, solution-focused interventions. If you require further clinical support or longer-term interventions, your EAP practitioner may refer you to a more suitable service or a GP (general practitioner) for ongoing support.

All information you disclose to an EAP practitioner is confidential. No reports or information are given to UQ without your consent.

If you're not able to attend an appointment, please call and cancel. Cancellations less than 24 hours before your appointment will count as 1 of your 6 free sessions.

Individual wellbeing

Through MyCoach for Individuals, you can talk to professionals trained to assist with a range of health and wellbeing issues, including:

  • mental health
  • family, relationship and parenting issues
  • work challenges and work-life balance
  • stress and conflict management
  • grief and loss
  • sleep and exercise habits.

Staff and their immediate family members can access up to 6 free sessions. You can choose to access support:

  • face-to-face
  • over the phone
  • in online live chat through BeneHub.

BeneHub: online tools and resources

Visit BeneHub to access online health and wellbeing resources, including tools, podcasts, meditations, learning modules, and online chat with a psychologist. 

First time using BeneHub? Register using the generic BeneHub login details (staff login required), and then create your own personalised login.

Already registered? Log in to the BeneHub website or download the Benestar app from the App store or Google Play.

Manager and supervisor support

Through MyCoach for People Leaders, managers and supervisors can access confidential support to work through workplace issues and challenges.

Support may include:

  • providing a sounding board
  • coaching on specific issues
  • offering direct advice on people management issues, such as performance, conflict, communication, and individual or team behaviour.

You can choose to access manager support:

  • over the phone
  • in online live chat through BeneHub.

Dietician

You can speak to an accredited dietician, who can help with a wide range of diet-related services, including:

  • weight management
  • meal planning
  • digestive health
  • dietary concerns.

This service is only available over the phone.

Financial counselling

Staff and their immediate family members can access 1 session of financial counselling with an accredited practitioner.

This is a coaching service to build understanding and awareness around your finances. It does not make product recommendations or promote any financial organisation approach.
