This March, the University of Queensland (UQ) is once again participating in the annual Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) hosted by Pride in Diversity.

This index sets the benchmark for LGBTIQA+ workplace inclusion nationally and provides our Diversity and Inclusion team and HR with valuable feedback on how we are tracking, what we are doing well and areas in which we can improve.

Participating in the survey

The Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) survey is open to all employees, regardless of how they personally identify. This includes members of the LGBTIAQ+ community and straight, cis-gendered allies.

We appreciate and promote diversity and mutual respect as a pillar of UQ values. We want to learn from your experiences and feedback, so we highly encourage all staff to participate in this survey. This will not only provide UQ with a deeper understanding of LGBTIAQ+ inclusion at UQ, it will also assist with UQ's annual AWEI submission.

About the AWEI survey

The AWEI is considered the definitive national benchmark on LGBTIQA+ workplace inclusion and encompasses the country's largest and only national employee survey designed to gauge the overall impact of inclusion initatives within organisations. The index drives Australia's best practices in LGBTIQA+ initiatves and sets a comparative benchmark for Australian employers across all sectors.

We encourage all employees to participate in this survey and provide feedback on UQ's intiatives on LGBTIQA+ inclusion.

The survey is conducted by Pride in Diversity. Demographic data is collated, but no personally identifying information is collected. The survey provides the opportunity to enter freeform comments. This is the only time staff can manually enter identifying information.

To ensure complete anonymity, we request that your refrain from entering any information that could personally identify you or anyone else. You may also choose not to answer questions by exiting the survey at any time by closing the browser. If you exit before completion, no responses will be saved.

Our aim is to create an inclusive place of work where all employees, no matter their diverse background, can be themselves. Find out more about LGBTIQA+ inclusion at UQ.

Should you have any quesitons with regard to this survey or the work UQ does in this area, please contact Workplace Diversity and Inclusion.
