What is a student story?

Use the 'Student story' content type for any testimonials, whether from students, staff or others.

A student story page displays the name of the person who gave the testimonial, along with their photo and other relevant information.

See a student story

Use the student story to:

  • create testimonials
  • share stories in the form of an interview.

Don't use student story to:

  • create a staff profile – use the Person profile
  • write a news article that features the person
  • talk about multiple people.

How to create a student story

Student stories can be created, edited and deleted by:

  • editors
  • site coordinators.

Once you log in to your website:

  1. Hover over the Drupal 'Content' menu, then go to 'Add content' > 'Student story'.
  2. Under 'Display name', add the full name of the person giving the testimonial.
  3. Re-enter the person's first name and surname in the 'First name' and 'Surname' fields.
  4. Add the person's postnominal, nationality, level of study or project/thesis title, if relevant.
  5. Add the main direct quote to the 'Quote' field.
  6. Add any body copy or other quotes to the 'Body' field.
  7. From the side menu at the top of the page, add any job, qualifications and awards information, if relevant.
  8. Click the 'Publish' button to save and publish the page.

Best practice

  • Follow the instructions for optimising images for the web to upload an appropriate photo.
  • Make sure you add the main block quote to the 'Quote' field – this will display on the student story.
