Asset

Use the 'Asset' content type when the primary action of your page is downloading a document or file, but you also need to include extra contextual information alongside the file.

This contextual information might include how to use the files, when they were last updated, or who maintains them.

Use the asset content type when:

• you need to display links to multiple files or documents
• users need to know certain information before downloading or accessing a file
• you need to display the file owner's name
• a document is regularly updated, but requires a persistent URL (for example, annual reports or program planners).

An asset shouldn't be used for:

• documents that don't require any contextual information
• documents without a specific owner
• external links that aren't managed by UQ.

Assets can be created, edited and deleted by:

• editors
• site coordinators.

Once you log in to your website:

1. Hover over the Drupal 'Content' menu, then go to 'Add content' > 'Asset'.
2. Enter a title and description for the asset.
3. From the 'Asset type' drop-down menu, select either 'File Asset' or 'Link Asset', then click the 'Add another Asset' button.
4. For 'File Assets': enter a title under 'Title', then click the 'Browse' button to find the file. For 'Link Assets': enter the title and add URL. Use an absolute path.
5. From the side menu at the top of the page, select the 'Asset type' (required field).
6. Add a teaser image, owner and tags (if required).
7. Click the 'Publish' button to save and publish the asset.

• Create appropriate file names so they are easy to find and maintain.

Fill in all required fields and as many optional fields as possible to provide the best user experience.
