Landline phones
Microsoft Teams Phone
Since 2023, UQ has been migrating traditional telephony to Microsoft Teams Phone. This enables your UQ landline to be available regardless of where you are working from and what device you are using. Teams Phone is an extension to the Microsoft Teams platform which is being adopted as UQ’s unified communication and collaboration tool.

Moving offices or desks
Teams Phone is setup for the phone number to be assigned to the person rather than the role. If the phone number needs to remain with the role, please submit an IT request to have the new number assigned to your user.
For legacy handsets, please consider onboarding to Teams Phone.
If you change departments or desks and take your landline with you, request a voice catalogue item (staff login required) so your contact and billing information can be updated.
- Provide a list of staff names and phones being moved including the extension number, current location, and new location.
- If the phones will remain in the current location, provide a contact who will be taking over the space so ownership and charges can be transferred.
- If the phones are no longer of use, provide a list so the extensions can be deleted, and handsets returned for e-waste.
- Provide details on why these numbers cannot be onboarded to Teams Phone.
Reporting issues
