Meaningful self-care and wellbeing is different for everyone.

A Wellness Insights session can help participants start thinking about their current level of wellbeing and how they might improve it. The session also provides an opportunity for team members to gain a better understanding of their colleagues and leaders, and a better insight into their teams around staff wellbeing matters.

About the program

The Wellness Insights session covers the following:

  • wellbeing check-in
  • setting individual wellness goals
  • exploring workplace wellness preferences.

During the session, anonymous polls are used to gather information so that individuals do not feel pressured to share or disclose personal concerns to the broader group. No information collected via these polls can be identified back to the individual.

How it works

  1. Register your interest in hosting a Wellness Insights session by contacting uqwellness@uq.edu.au.
  2. Liaise with UQ Wellness for suitable times. You'll need to arrange an appropriate venue.
  3. Invitations are sent to relevant staff from the appropriate workplace leader.
  4. The session lasts around 60-75 minutes. The session is designed to be relaxed and interactive.
  5. Following the group session, a feedback report will be provided to the team leaders to assist with how to further support staff wellbeing.
  6. UQ Wellness will follow up with the workplace leader a few months after the session, for an informal check-in, and to discuss any progress or barriers regarding the team’s wellbeing.

Tips for hosting a successful event

  • Leaders should commit to attending with the team and engaging in the process. Lock it in the calendar.
  • Let your team know that participation is voluntary and encouraged.
  • Provide light catering, with healthy options, if appropriate.
  • Keep the group to around 5-20 people, however this can be discussed when booking.
  • Endorse and encourage participation in the workplace or individual wellness activities.
  • Follow up on any feedback or required health and wellbeing support.
