Help prepare UQ for storm and fire season

As Queensland’s summer approaches, bringing humidity, storms and bushfire risk, Property and Facilities (P&F) is working hard to prepare our campuses. Keeping UQ safe, clean and resilient is a shared effort, and everyone plays an important role.

    What you can do

Simple actions to help keep UQ safe, clean and prepared this summer.

    Stop mould before it starts

    Keep humidity under control

    • Keep doors and windows closed in air-conditioned spaces to maintain temperature and help prevent mould.
    • Secure outdoor items
    • Store materials and equipment safely to avoid damage during storms.

    Stay fire-safe

    • Avoid activities that generate heat or sparks unless essential and follow safety protocols.

    Tidy spaces = safer spaces

    • Use UQ’s recycling and waste services to responsibly manage office clean-outs.
    • Remove outdoor clutter to reduce the risk of attracting wildlife, including snakes.

    Spot it? Report it

Together, we can make a real difference this storm and fire season. Thank you for helping keep UQ safe, clean and prepared.
