Publishers, site builders and content admins can schedule transitions so content types automatically move from one moderation state to another.

Scheduled transitions are only available in new Drupal. Note that some content types, like events or scholarships, use a different type of schedule to publish or unpublish.

    Moderation states

You can only save your page in a moderation state that your level of access allows. For example, if you're a site editor, you won't be able to schedule a page to save as published.

You can use scheduled transitions to move content types from:

    • draft or ready to publish to published
    • published to archived, if you want something archived on a specific date.

    Timing

Scheduled transitions happen every 15 minutes, so they may not change state at exactly the time you specify. The transitions should run at:

    • 8 minutes past the hour
    • 23 minutes past the hour
    • 38 minutes past the hour
    • 53 minutes past the hour.

Avoid using scheduled transitions to publish high-risk content, such as embargoed content. You have more control if you publish your page manually.
