What is a rich text panel?

Rich text panels provide a flexible and unstructured way to add content to panel pages.

Rich text panels can contain text and non-text content like images, videos and tables. You can insert and format content using the WYSIWYG editor.

Use a rich text panel when:

  • you have static or informational content to include in a panel page – particularly longer sections of text
  • the content can't be structured to fit into another panel type.

A rich text panel shouldn't be used when:

  • another panel type or content type will provide the structure, format or functionality required for the content.

Best practice

  • If you are copying and pasting text from a Word document into a rich text panel, use the 'paste from Word' button in the WYSIWYG editor. This will remove unnecessary formatting that may cause the content to display incorrectly.
  • Use basic pages and structured pages for medium and long content pages. Rich text should only be used for small sections of content on panel pages.
