Automation allows UQ to streamline repetitive and manual processes.

If you have a request for automation, complete the automation tool determiner (staff login required) which will help you identify the most appropriate platform for your needs.

There are several platforms at UQ which can utilise automation:

  • Checkbox: UQ's centrally-supported web form tool for gathering information from UQ staff, students, and external respondents.
  • Oracle Intelligent Advisor (OIA): Web forms for collecting structured information to provide on-screen advice, or create enquiries in Oracle Service Cloud CRM.
  • Microsoft Power Platform: Opportunities to automate workflows making use of Microsoft data integrations.
  • UniTask: Web forms used to help automate business processes can be created using UniTask. Generally, these projects are large, and require significant resourcing and planning.
  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Build, deploy, and manage software robots that emulate human actions interacting with digital systems and software.

Benefits of automation

  • Enhanced experience: Continued workflow and process automation will further improve the staff and student experience through simple and easy to use interfaces and the removal of repetitive, mundane tasks.
  • Improved accuracy: Automated processes do things repeatedly and reliably. Tasks done at regular intervals like configuration and provisioning can save time, cut costs and help achieve higher accuracy when automated.
  • Increased visibility: Automated processes allow the University to stay up-to-date with service, workload and compliance requirements.
  • Redirected staff effort: Efficient, automated processes can transition staff from manual tasks to high value services.
  • Drives innovation: Automation frees up resources from the manual day-to-day administration and provides time to innovate. It also acts as the catalyst for speedy implementation of innovative business models, required to keep pace with changing technology and customer preferences.
