UQ to update Adobe Creative Cloud software

UQ is moving to the latest version of Adobe’s Creative Cloud. The new version links to your staff login instead of your computer, and ensures that all staff can use the most up-to-date Creative Cloud software (such as InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro) going forward.

These changes will also give you more flexibility, should you need to work from home, in teaching spaces, or across multiple devices. For a full list of software included in the Creative Cloud suite, click here.

Higher-degree by research (HDR) students who have an identified need for Creative Cloud software, as determined by their faculty or institute, will also receive a licence for the updated Creative Cloud.

The Adobe update will occur in three phases, with the majority of changes taking place in the next month.

Please read below to see how each phase will affect you.

Phase one: Updating computer labs and teaching spaces – 25 June 2019

From 25 June 2019, computers in labs and teaching spaces that already have the Creative Cloud installed will move to the new version of Adobe Creative Cloud. Any outdated Adobe software will be removed from computers in these spaces.

To use the updated Creative Cloud software on these devices, open the program you wish to use and sign in to Adobe Creative Cloud by entering uq.edu.au in the email field. You will then be redirected to a UQ sign in page, where you can log in using your UQ username and password.

Students can use the updated Creative Cloud programs in the same way, signing in to Adobe Creative Cloud by entering uq.edu.au in the email field, and then being redirected to the UQ sign in page. Access instructions will also be provided in each lab.

Phase two: Staff receive access to new Creative Cloud – 1 July 2019

On 1 July 2019, all full time, part time and casual staff and HDR students who currently use Creative Cloud programs, will be able to access the new Adobe Creative Cloud software suite on UQ computers. HDR students who do not receive Creative Cloud access on July 1, but require access to the updated software suite for study purposes, can log a request via IT support.

Please visit the UQ Adobe Software web page to find out how you can install the new Creative Cloud suite.

Academic title holders, honorary position holders, visitors and volunteers will not automatically receive a licence for the updated Creative Cloud suite. If you require access to the new Adobe Creative Cloud suite for UQ-related purposes, please log a request with IT support.

Using Creative Cloud software on personal devices

Staff can also download and install Creative Cloud programs on other devices (including personal computers) for work purposes, by using their staff login details. You can use Creative Cloud programs on a maximum of two devices at a time. To download and install Creative Cloud programs to non-UQ devices, visit the UQ Adobe software webpage.

If you cannot access the updated software after July 1, please contact IT support.

Existing Creative Cloud software

This update does not affect access to existing Creative Cloud software, which will remain active on UQ devices until November 2019, and can be accessed by all staff, HDR students, Academic title holders, honorary position holders, visitors and volunteers. This also does not affect Adobe at-home subscriptions purchased using your UQ credentials. These 12-month subscriptions will remain active until their current expiry date, but cannot be renewed further.

Phase 3: Old Creative Cloud software decommissioned – November 2019

More information will be provided in October 2019.
