Welcome to the new-look UQ Update newsletter
On Monday 1 July, the UQ Update editorial team launched a new-look UQ Update newsletter. The redesign makes the newsletter easier to read and visually distinctive. The team has also created a new events calendar – the ‘What’s on’ page – and a ‘Participate in a research study’ page.
Key changes to the newsletter include:
- creating sections to share ‘News from around UQ’ and details about ‘What’s on’.
- reducing the length and number of stories included in each edition.
- introducing new buttons linking to websites with more information about each story.
- promoting different UQ areas and volunteer and training opportunities through clickable image boxes, which will change each week.
You will be able to find more news and events on our Staff updates webpage, linked to via the ‘Read more UQ news’ and ‘View the UQ events calendar’ buttons in the newsletter.
Before launching the new-look newsletter, the UQ Update editorial team hosted 2 information sessions for staff. To learn more about the UQ Update changes and how items are selected for the newsletter, read the information session PowerPoint slides.
Submitting content to UQ Update
Any UQ staff member can submit a story to UQ Update. If you have news, events, or research study opportunities to share, please first read the submission guidelines and then complete the UQ Update submission form.
The UQ Update editorial team will email you if we require more information, plan to make substantial changes to the text you submit, or are not able to promote your story.
The deadline for submissions is Thursday at 5pm of the week before you would like your story to be shared. If your submission is received after this deadline, we will endeavour to promote your story in a different UQ Update edition.
If you have feedback about these changes to the newsletter, the ‘What’s on’ page, or the ‘Participate in a UQ study’ page, please email the UQ Update editorial team at update@uq.edu.au.
