Condolences at UQ

Letters of condolence are arranged for current students and current staff, and any previous UQ staff or VIPs who have had a strong affiliation with UQ.

To request a letter of condolence from the Vice-Chancellor, you need to provide the information to the relevant area:

• For current staff (including Emeritus Professors), contact your HR partner.
• For current students, contact Student Administration within your Faculty or School.
• For any previous UQ staff or VIPs who have had a strong affiliation with UQ (e.g. previous UQ Senate members), contact the UQ Events team (events@uq.edu.au).

Please note:

• No one from the University should contact the next of kin unless you have a personal relationship with them.
• On some occasions it may not be appropriate to send a letter of condolence, due to insufficient information or if significant time has lapsed since the passing.

Memorials

To request a memorial, contact the UQ Events team (events@uq.edu.au) for advice. Requests must be approved by the Chief Operating Officer.

Plaques and tree planting

To request a plaque or tree planting, contact P&F Assist (pfassist@pf.uq.edu.au). Requests must be approved by the Chief Operating Officer.
