Jhalli Pleasant is a proud Munanjali (Beaudesert) and Gooreng Gooreng (Gladstone) woman with South Sea Islander background and African American heritage. Jhalli was born in Brisbane but spent her childhood living between Los Angeles, California and Queensland.

In 2018, Jhalli commenced at the University of Queensland (UQ) via our Professional Entry Pathway (PEP) program where she completed a Diploma of Business while gaining on the job experience in the higher education sector working in Student & Academic Administration in the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty (HASS). Prior to Jhalli working at UQ, she was employed at a Global Health consulting firm undertaking program management and administration for domestic and international clientele.

Jhalli has credited her aspiration to pursue further education to her positive experience at UQ. Jhalli is interested in Public Relations with aspirations to become a confident leader and is now balancing a Bachelor of Nursing while working full-time to achieve her goals.

Jhalli recently accepted a secondment opportunity as a Project Officer with the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement). Jhalli will be supporting the implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan actions and deliverables and is excited to be part of building further awareness of UQ’s first Reconciliation Action Plan.

Jhalli is looking forward to building stronger relationships with the mob at UQ.
