New Future Students website

25 May 2020

UQ launched its new future students website last week.

The previous website was at end of life and our research told us that our future students and Guidance Officers couldn’t easily find the information they needed such as career outcomes, entry requirements and relevant events.

The new design and features have been strongly influenced by what future students told us they wanted to see on our website. The design and development process involved more than 768 hours of research, including extensive interviews with future students and Guidance Officers, 51 user testing sessions with future students, and reviewing and updating 2400 program pages.

We have made a suite of improvements in the initial release of the website including:

  • Significant program page improvements with a consistent format to allow users to compare programs easily
  • Introduction of pages on majors
  • Dynamic entry requirements for domestic and international students
  • Program-specific content including alumni stories, potential careers and salary indicators, articles relevant to the study area, scholarships and events
  • Faster page loading
  • Improved search functionality
  • Personalisation of UQ events based on known preferences
  • Improved readability

We will be adding more functionality over time to ensure our future students have all the information they need to make an informed choice e.g. a virtual tour of UQ campuses and a peer-to-peer chat function to assist with questions.

The future student website is a key deliverable of the CX Program and has involved considerable effort from across the university.

Check out the new future students website and we look forward to receiving your feedback via your Faculty Marketing and Communication Manager.
