36th UQ Senate: voting now open

Voting is now open to elect members of the 36th UQ Senate. The Senate is UQ’s peak governing body, ensuring that appropriate structures, policies, processes and planning are in place for the University to effectively manage its activities and achieve its goals.

National Safe Work Month

This Wednesday 1 October marks the beginning of National Safe Work Month. The 2025 theme, ‘Safety: every job, every day’, encourages all workplaces to focus on safety and be aware of workplace health and safety risks. During the month, UQ is hosting a series of specialist-led webinars on topics including psychological safety, indoor air quality, biosafety, and more.

Cyber Security Awareness Month: Calm and Connected Expo

During Cyber Security Awareness Month in October, learn how you can make small behaviour changes that make a big difference in protecting yourself and others from online threats. On Thursday 9 October, discover mindful ways to stay connected and protect your online peace of mind at the Calm and Connected Expo. Walcott St temporary road closure and detour

Construction of the second Student Residence Complex at St Lucia is progressing well and works will begin next week to install a water main beneath Walcott Street. From Monday 29 September, a section of Walcott St will be closed to traffic during the day for approximately 2 weeks. A detour will be in place via Glasshouse Road, Services Road and Hood Street to maintain access to nearby residences. Traffic control will be in place and motorists are advised to take care in the area. Pedestrians should continue to use the existing signed detour.
