Dear staff,
The University has been advised by Queensland Police that an individual who is a student at the University has been charged with inappropriate filming of women in locations across Brisbane and is in custody.
It has been alleged that some of the incidents occurred at our St Lucia campus. The University is supporting the police with their ongoing investigation.
As the matter is before the courts, the University is unable to provide further information. However, I want to assure you that this type of alleged behaviour is not tolerated at UQ.
Immediate action has been taken by the University to prevent the individual coming onto our campuses.
I would encourage any staff and students who may have concerns relating to this matter to contact our Sexual Misconduct Support Unit (SMSU). The SMSU team provides a range of safe, free and confidential support services to our community.
I am deeply disappointed that that some of these alleged incidents may have occurred on our campus.
