All Staff Forum wrap-up and materials

30 May 2023

Dear staff,

Thank you, once again, to everyone who was able to participate in the first All Staff Forum for this year, which was held last Thursday, in the UQ Centre at St Lucia.

It was really encouraging to see around 500 staff attend in person – and to have a further 1,800 staff participate via Zoom, including those who gathered in groups at Herston, Gatton, Long Pocket, and Woolloongabba (TRI).

For anyone who could not attend, links to a video of the All Staff Forum, as well as the full set of the slides that I used at the event, are now available online.

The Forum was a chance to highlight the achievements of a number of our teams over the past 6 months while sharing updates on a wide range of issues, including the latest on Project 2025 and plans for expanding our student accommodation offering at St Lucia.

I was really pleased to be able to tell staff that we’re now close to finalising a “heads of agreement” with the unions for a new Enterprise Agreement (EA). The salary increases contained in the proposed agreement include a $1,500 uplift that will apply upon the successful completion of the EA ballot – followed by additional 2% salary increases every six months, from January 2024 to February 2026.

I also announced at the Forum that we will shortly commence a consultation process to consider whether there is merit in the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences combining to form a single, integrated Faculty of Health.

A steering committee, chaired by the Provost and with representation from both faculties, will be established to lead this consultation with staff, students and other stakeholders. We will continue to share information about this consultation process over the coming months.

I hope you have a great week.

Best wishes,

Debbie
