Mirroring360 is a tool you can use to mirror your screen to an in-room computer at UQ.

Mirroring360 is compatible with Windows, Apple, Android and Chromebook devices. To use Mirroring360, you have to:

  1. Download a program called Mirroring360 Sender (Windows) or Mirroring Assist (Mac) on your device, and then
  2. Link your device to Mirroring360 Receiver, which is installed by default on all lectern PCs in centrally controlled teaching rooms.

To set up Mirroring360, follow the instructions for your operating system. You can mirror up to four devices at once.

Follow the steps below to mirror the screen of your Windows device to an in-room computer.

Step 1: Download sender software on your device

To use Mirroring360, the first thing you have to do is download and install a program called Mirroring360 Sender.

UQ computers

To download Mirroring360 Sender on your UQ computer, use the Windows Software Center.

Personal computers

To download Mirroring360 Sender on your personal computer:

  1. Download Mirroring360 Sender.
  2. Open and run the downloaded file.
  3. Follow the prompts to install the program.
  4. If you receive a warning about installing the program on your computer, select 'Yes' and continue.

Step 2: Run receiver software on the in-room computer

Once you've downloaded software on your device, you have to run a program called Mirroring360 Receiver on the in-room computer.

Mirroring360 Receiver is automatically installed on all lectern PCs in centrally controlled teaching rooms.

  1. Turn on the room’s audiovisual system and press the 'Desktop PC' button. This will show the lectern PC’s screen on the display screens in the room.
  2. Log in to the lectern PC. You can log in with your UQ account, or as a guest by using 'lecture' as both the username and password.
  3. Connect to the internet by opening a browser and logging in with your UQ username and password. Go to the UQ login page if it doesn’t open automatically.
  4. Go to the 'Start' menu and search for 'Mirroring360 Receiver'. Open it. There may also be a 'Mirroring360' icon on the desktop.
  5. Wait a few seconds while Mirroring360 Receiver loads and automatically registers its license.
  6. Select 'General' from the side menu and write down the 'Computer Name' and the ID number under 'Mirroring Assist'.

Once you've written down the computer name and mirroring ID number, proceed to Step 3.

If the in-room computer doesn't have Mirroring360 Receiver

If you want to use Mirroring360 in a room that isn't centrally controlled, you may need to install Mirroring360 Receiver on the in-room computer.

You need admin privileges to install Mirroring360 Receiver on an in-room computer. If you don't have admin privileges, submit an IT request.

To download and install Mirroring360 Receiver on the in-room computer, go to the Windows Software Center, or follow the instructions below:

  1. Download Mirroring360 Receiver.
  2. Open and run the downloaded file.
  3. Follow the prompts to install the program.
  4. If you receive a warning about installing the program on your computer, select 'Yes' and continue.

Once you've downloaded Mirroring360 Receiver on the in-room computer, complete the instructions above for 'Step 2. Run receiver software on the in-room computer'.

Step 3: Link your device to the in-room computer

The final step is to link the Sender software on your device to the Receiver software on the in-room computer. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to either Eduroam or UQ Wifi.
  2. Open Mirroring360 Sender on your device.
  3. Wait a few seconds while Mirroring360 Sender loads and automatically registers its license.
  4. Select the 'quick connect' option (a rectangle with a plus sign) to pair your device with the lectern PC.
  5. Enter the lectern PC's mirroring ID (see Step 2), click 'add' and then close the window.
  6. The lectern PC's computer name should now appear on the list of devices. Click 'Play' .
  7. The icon and device name will turn red to show that your device's screen is being mirrored to the lectern PC.
  8. Click 'Stop' to finish pairing your advice.

iOS for iPhone and iPad

Steps may be slightly different on your screen, depending on the version of iOS you are using.

Step 1: Download Mirroring Assist app on your device

  6. Select 'General' from the side menu and write down the 'Computer Name' and the ID number under 'Mirroring Assist'.

Once you've written down the computer name and mirroring ID number, proceed to Step 3.

If the in-room computer doesn't have Mirroring360 Receiver

If you want to use Mirroring360 in a room that isn't centrally controlled, you may need to install Mirroring360 Receiver on the in-room computer.

Step 3: Link your device to the in-room computer

The final step is to link the Mirroring Assist app on your device to the Receiver software on the in-room computer. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to either Eduroam or UQ Wifi.
  2. Open the Mirroring Assist app.
  3. Tap 'Enter Mirroring ID' in the lower right corner.
  4. Enter the lectern PC's mirroring ID (see Step 2) and tap 'OK'.
  5. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center. Select 'AirPlay Mirroring', then select the room you are in.
  6. Your device should now be mirrored to the lectern PC.

macOS for Mac

These instructions are for macOS for Mac. Your Mac has to be running at least macOS 10.11 (El Capitan) for Mirroring360 to work.

Step 1: Download Mirroring Assist on your Mac

To use Mirroring360, the first thing you have to do is download and install a program called Mirroring Assist.

To download Mirroring Assist on your Mac:

  1. Download Mirroring360 Mirroring Assist.
  2. Open and run the downloaded file.
  3. Follow the prompts to install the program.
  4. If you receive a warning about installing the program on your computer, select 'Yes' and continue.
  5. Go to your Mac's System Preferences (cog icon in your dock), then select 'Security & Privacy'.
  6. Click the padlock in the lower left corner of the window, then enter the username and password you use for your computer.
  7. Tick the box next to 'Mirroring Assist' and click the padlock again.
  8. Close the window to finish.

Step 2: Run receiver software on the in-room computer

Once you've downloaded software on your device, you have to run a program called Mirroring360 Receiver on the in-room computer.

Mirroring360 Receiver is automatically installed on all lectern PCs in centrally controlled teaching rooms.

Step 3: Link your Mac to the in-room computer

The final step is to link Mirroring Assist on your Mac to the Receiver software on the in-room computer. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to either Eduroam or UQ Wifi.
  2. Open Mirroring Assist on your device.
  3. Select the 'S' icon in the menu bar, then select 'Mirror Screen to a Device'.
  4. Enter the lectern PC's mirroring ID (see Step 2) and click 'Mirror'. Your Mac screen should now be mirrored to the lectern PC.
  5. To stop mirroring, click the AirPlay icon at the very top of your screen, then select 'Turn AirPlay Off'.

If you receive an error message saying ‘App accessibility is required’, return to Step 1. Download Mirroring Assist on your device and follow the steps to change your System Preferences.

Steps may be slightly different on your screen, depending on the version of Android you are using and your device.

  2. Open Mirroring360 Sender Basic on your device.
  3. Select 'Mirroring Assist' in the lower-right corner.
  4. Enter the lectern PC's mirroring ID (see Step 2) and tap the arrow. Your Android device should now be mirrored to the lectern PC.
